Network Organization

AIPD is organized into different teams and boards to manage, coordinate, and steer activities efficiently. Decision-making within these groups generally follows a simple majority voting system with specific rules for the Supervisory Board. In cases of conflict, the Mediation Board steps in to mediate between parties.

Supervisory Board (SB)

The SB is the main decision body of AIPD and is composed of all academic as well as non-academic supervisors, which jointly supervise each PhD candidate. The SB will meet every 3 months (quarterly) and discuss topics that are of relevance for the overall program.

Mediation Board (MB)

The MB is initiated in WP3 to mediate any potential conflicts between a supervisor and a PhD candidate or between supervisors or between DCs. It consists of 2 elected supervisors and 2 elected PhD candidates. The MB will only meet in case of an actual need.

Teaching Board (TB)

It is responsible for overseeing the Teaching Program, meeting biannually to review progress and make adjustments to the course offerings, ECTS assignments, and other aspects as needed. It includes academic and non-academic teachers, a Doctoral Candidate (DC) committee with two elected PhD candidates, and is led by a representative from UL who manages the program's administrative tasks.

Dissemination Team (DT)

The DT, led by RCSI, is responsible for managing and coordinating all dissemination activities for the AIPD project, including scientific publications, conference presentations, and social media engagement. They aim to promote the project, highlight individual contributors, and engage with both the scientific community and the public to increase visibility and impact. Regular meetings are held to strategize these efforts.

Sustainability & Exploitation Team (SET)

The SET, led by GEHC and including representatives from all commercial partners and a business expert from IESE, is tasked with evaluating patent opportunities and managing intellectual property (IP) to support long-term project exploitation. They implement a pre-publication review process to protect exploitable results, manage IP rights, ensure confidentiality, and handle data sharing regulations, all under a Consortium Agreement based on the DESCA model. Regular meetings are scheduled to oversee these responsibilities.

WP Research Teams

The WP Research Teams, organized by the leads of research WPs 4-6, conduct regular online meetings to discuss and coordinate their specific research areas. These teams adapt the frequency of their meetings based on project needs, and individual researchers may participate in multiple teams if their PhD projects intersect with themes from more than one work package.

Management & Coordination Team (MCT)

The MCT, established in WP1 and comprised of academic and non-academic coordinators along with project managers, is responsible for monitoring project milestones, deliverables, and budget allocations. They organize annual general assemblies, PhD conferences, and meetings with the Scientific Advisory Board, meeting monthly to prepare for quarterly Steering Board meetings to guide the overall project.

Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)

The SAB, formed under WP1 and comprising experts from various fields relevant to the AIPD program, meets annually with the Steering Board during the General Assembly to provide feedback on the overall research and teaching strategies. The SAB's role includes reviewing program updates and specific PhD projects to offer constructive feedback that aids in guiding the direction of AIPD, with the Management and Coordination Team preparing detailed materials for these meetings.
